NORWAY — More than 100 artists from Maine and other parts of New England will converge on Main Street on Saturday, July 9, for the 44th annual Norway Arts Festival.
A section will be closed, from 258 to 450 Main St., to allow for a pedestrian mall.
Festival-goers will find fine art paintings, photography, three-dimensional work in metal, stone, glass and wood, as well as, hand printing, lithography, jewelry and fiber arts.
In addition, there will be live music, dance and performance art, Poland Players’ Shakespeare in the Park, Poets on the Porch VIII, a puppet parade and many other events scheduled throughout the day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a complete schedule, visit www.norwayartsfestival.org.
Artist will vie for cash prizes and purchase awards in the juried portion of the show.
The festival actually begins on Thursday, July 7, with an Art Moves Around performance at 6 p.m., followed by storytelling dance with Karen Montanaro and a one-hour film, “Theater and Inspiration,” about world-renowned mime Tony Montanaro, all at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
On Friday, July 8, there will be a used-book sale at the Norway Grange on Whitman Street, from 4 to 7 p.m.; the Rotary and Kiwanis annual auction, from 5 to 9 p.m. at OHCHS; and a street dance with Criss Cross Orchestra, with special guest Dawson Hill and friends and visual disc jockey VJ FOO, from 7 to 10 p.m. behind the Fare Share Co-op. The Criss Cross Orchestra combines traditional native African, American, Caribbean, Cuban, Latin American and European musical styles.
