LIVERMORE FALLS — The first winners of four contests this summer are Jenna F., Austin M. and James M. They chose the names for the Treat Memorial Library reading program mascot, a raccoon who will be called “Fuzzy Jo-Jo Fred.”
The current contest is Name the State Parks and will run until Saturday, July 9. Participants are invited to match the number from the map on display to the name listed on the entry form. Research is encouraged. There will be three winners for each contest.
The reading camp will continue at 6 p.m. Thursdays. A Sleep Under will be held on July 21. Registration is required for that event. Participants are asked to bring a blanket and pillow and wear pajamas. It is not an overnight, but does run longer than the usual reading camp.
Elsie’s Re-Read Used Book Emporium is full of summer reads. The emporium is located downstairs at the library.
The library has two passes to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. The one-acre Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden was opened last summer with features that are based on children’s books by Maine authors. The gardens also offer a cafe and gift shop, in addition to flowers, plants and trails.
To see the online catalogue, go to treat.biblionix.com/atoz/catalog/ and click on “See what’s hot” for a list of new items. If the item is highlighted in pink and there is a zero in the “In” column and zero in the “Tot” column, it means the library owns the item, but it is still being processed and is not ready to circulate yet.
