DURHAM — The second annual Androscoggin County Farm Bike Tour will be held on Sunday, July 24, beginning at Durham Elementary School.

The 13-mile route on roads in the Durham area highlights working farms and ecologically important areas.

The tour will presentations on bicycle safety, buying healthy and local food, food purchasing programs, horsemanship, conservation practices and farmland protection.

The partners promoting this event include Healthy Androscoggin, Androscoggin Land Trust, University of Maine Cooperative Extension for Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties, Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Posters and registration brochures may be picked up at any of the offices of these event-promoting partners.

In addition to the physical activity from bicycling, there will be opportunities to learn about farming in Androscoggin County.
