Is there something that really irks you? Something about your job, your family or the stuff you have to deal with every day? Share it. E-mail your peeves to [email protected] or mail them to Sun Journal, attn: b section, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04240, and we’ll print them here. Please keep your gripe to under 75 words.
My gripe are “poems”
that do not rhyme;
Just random words
from careless minds.
No discipline, no
rhythm there —
Just thoughts that
rise from anywhere.
No need to balance
line with line,
To struggle for that
perfect rhyme;
Free verse is more
like idle talk
Than poetry of
classic thought!

Why is it on crime shows they remember the gloves but let the actors playing CSIs leave their long hair down to shed everywhere? Accuracy. Devil’s in the details.

Ladies with young children: I do not want to use a public restroom only to have your rude young son crawl under and into my stall. You’re lucky I didn’t instinctively kick him. Mind your children.

What’s this silliness about the WIC program not allowing white potatoes? They are a Maine staple, healthy — unless you endeavor to make them full of junk — and a relatively cheap and reliable food source. It’s not right to prejudice a food that is proven nutritious and healthy.

In a recent Sunday newspaper (May 29), I was outraged about the cartoon For Better or Worse. The dog kept drinking out of the toilet, so the little girl kept slamming the dog over the head with the toilet seat. I think it teaches kids that it’s OK to abuse animals. It’s just not right.

TV stations whose audio isn’t synced up to the video. It’s like watching a badly dubbed foreign film. Why doesn’t someone fix it?

Punctuality! I strive to be on time to appointments, meetings and casual events. If you’re more than 30 minutes late, we no longer have plans. You have your cell phones to call if you have to reschedule. I don’t need one. How hard is it to leave a little early to be on time?!? To be routinely late is disrespectful.

The driver of a handicapped individual is MEANT to park in a designated space and help the handicapped individual in. We can’t do that and park and hold up an unsteady person, just to make them walk a mile. You try being a caretaker.

My gripe: Grown people with no boundaries. Strangers have no business touching me or putting their grubby hands all over my things. Grow up. Casual reassuring touch is reserved for friends and family, and that goes doubly for sharing food and drink from the same plate or cup.

I grow numerous fruits and vegetables, and cannot abide people helping themselves to my produce. Were they to simply ask or verbally admire, I’d gladly share, but creeping around or, worse, sending your children into my garden to lift my goodies, is truly shameful.
