SOUTH RUMFORD — Peter and Sharon Capponi of South Rumford are happy to announce the engagement of their son, Christopher Capponi, to Michelle Mercier, daughter of Patrick Mercier and Jennifer Otis-Mercier of Bowdoin.

Mr. Capponi is a 2001 graduate of Mountain Valley High School and graduated from the University of Maine in 2005 with degrees in psychology and child development.

Miss Mercier is a 2001 graduate of Mt. Ararat High School and graduated from the University of Maine in 2006 with a degree in social work.

A July 24 wedding is planned in Searsport, where the couple resides.
