NORWAY — Pauline Parsons of South Paris, who has written a book about money and health matters titled “Take Control of Your Life,” will have a book signing on July 30 at Books N Things.

Parsons’ goal is to help people who want to get out of debt and save more money. In the book, she offers ways to cut back on spending while still enjoying some of life’s pleasures.

“Take Control of Your Life” also addresses some of the top health issues of today — the negative effects of smoking cigarettes, excessive drinking, obesity, diabetes, stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Parsons maintains that if people have knowledge about money and, in particular, health, they can make better choices. “For example,” she said, “if people knew all of the negative consequences associated with smoking cigarettes, I am certain they would never want to begin smoking cigarettes at all. And if you do smoke, to quit right away.”

“I wrote this book to make people more aware of the things they can do to have more control in their lives,” the author said.

Parsons has worked the past 10 years for Citigroup, handling both hedge and mutual funds. She resides in both Boston and Maine.

The book signing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the book store on Main Street.

“Take Control of Your Life” is available through the publisher, AuthorHouse, as well as Barnes and Noble, Borders, Nonesuch Books and Cards in South Portland and Biddeford, and Books N Things.
