LIVERMORE FALLS — A Jay man is accused of drunk driving after the SUV he was driving hit the back of a vehicle stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Bridge and Main streets Monday night, police said.

The SUV then left the scene at about 8:58 p.m., Livermore Falls police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Tuesday

The driver of the struck vehicle, Rebecca McNeill, 17, of Dixfield, reported the accident to police and said that her vehicle was struck by a police cruiser, Steward said. The SUV had pulled out from a turnout near a rear entrance to Otis Falls Mill, he said.

McNeill’s vehicle received minor damage, Steward said.

Lt. Tom Gould and Sgt. Steve Allen investigated the complaint.

The vehicle turned out to be a former Jay Police Department cruiser, a 2002 Ford Explorer, that had been sold and bought by Otis Ventures and used as a security vehicle to patrol the Otis Falls Mill complex. The SUV has specific markings on it, including a star, but none that indicates it is currently a Jay cruiser.

Police located the vehicle at the mill and charged Martin Marchetti, 51, of Jay with operating under the influence at about 9:45 p.m., Steward said.

He was taken Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
