SOUTH PARIS — Joan Augusta Tucker, 78, of Rumford and Hanover, passed away on Friday, July 8, surrounded by her loving family at Market Square Health Care Center.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1932, in Norway. As a young girl, she spent many happy memorable times with her Grammy and Grandpa Pride on Pikes Hill and her Grammy and Grandpa Jackson at Green Elms. She attended Norway schools, graduating from Norway High School in 1950, where she was active in girls basketball, drama club, cheerleading, archery and many other activities.
On Oct. 28, 1950, she married the love of her life, Allison Eugene Tucker. Together they had four children, Jeffrey, Carrie Ellen, Dori and Bethany.
She had many hobbies including reading poetry, antiquing, music and spending time in her garden, but most of all spending time with her loving family.
During her life, she held many jobs in various positions including research lab analyst at Oxford Paper, selling Avon, driving a school bus for the NOVA School program, real estate agent and CNA at Cozy Inn Nursing Home in Rumford.
After the loss of her husband, she converted their home to a B & B, The Last Resort, at Rumford Corner until 2003.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Tucker and his wife, Debra; daughter, Dori Gallagher and husband, Ralph; daughter, Bethany Giberson and husband, Neal; her grandchildren, Ralph Allison Gallagher, Melissa Lynn Carlberg, Gretchen Marie Tucker, Jacob Jeffrey Tucker, Kayla Mae Giberson and Tori Anne Giberson; great-grandson, Dawson Alan Carlberg; brother, Ira Allen; sister, Nancy Jordan; brother, Eugene Pride; sister, Gloria Dorey; brother, William Pride; sister, Karen Goodwin; sister, Trudy Durgin; sister, Rhonda Tibbetts; and sister, Ruth Upton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allison; daughter, Carrie Ellen; mother, Eva Allen; father, Eugene Pride; stepmother, Ruth Pride; stepfather, Melvin Allen; and brother, Abner Pride Allen.
We love you to the moon and back and we will miss you every day. You were our glue.
