INDUSTRY — Martin “Bud” A. Priebe, 82, of Industry, passed late Monday, July 11, surrounded by his family, at his home on Clearwater Lake.

He was born March 19, 1929, in Berginfield, N.J., the son of Martin A. and Josephine M. (Gold) Priebe. He graduated from high school in Massapequa, Long Island, N.Y. He then started his own painting business before entering the U.S. Army, serving with the Military Police in Germany.

Upon returning to New York, he met and married his wife, Arden, in 1954. While continuing his painting business, they summered in Industry at Clearwater Lake, moving up permanently in 1978. Not having it in him to fully retire, he was involved with countless endeavors, including establishing the Fabric Inn in Farmington, maintaining several camps on Clearwater, owning appartment buildings, and serving on the Planning Board for the town of Industry.

His greatest passion and a hobbie since the age of eight was raising and racing pigeons. He competed in the Islip Terrace Club and Southern Long Island Combine on Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of the Central Maine Pigeon Flyers.

Surviving family members include, his wife of 56 years; two daughters, Valarie Swain and her fiance, Steve Lewis and Cheryl Lewis and her husband, David; a son, Paul Priebe and his significant other, Rose Otley, all of Industry; three grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas and Katie; a sister, Lucile Murphy of Madison; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Priebe and Helene Messina.
