DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am uncertain what to do and therefore leave it up to you.

In June at Goodwill I purchased a used blank Rolodex that can hold 200 photos. Unbeknown to me — and I imagine Goodwill — 36 photos remained in the back. You will note that the photos are of children and well-documented by the parent as to first name of child, age, holiday, event or place visited from 1984 to 1986. I assume these might be precious to someone.

Since these children are now 30 or more years old and have names not all that common, someone might claim them. I turn them over to you to decide how to handle them. — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: No Name is probably right in that the children are identifiable. It appears that the two younger siblings are twins, which should help locate them. Here are a few of the things written on the back of the photos that might help distinguish them for someone:

If the owners of these photos recognize themselves, they can contact Sun Spots to make arrangements to pick them up.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know who I should talk to about buying some space to put in a surprise announcement of a 61-year anniversary of my parents’ wedding. I would like it to appear around Sept. 15. Thank you. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots checked with Customer Service Manager Sandra Bruno. She said: “I would suggest that the customer call classified advertising at 783-2281 or toll free 1-800-482-0935. The customer can also email class2@sunjournal.com.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks so much for your help in the past in promoting the West Auburn School Historical Society’s annual yard sale. The time for that event is approaching, so we are turning to you again.

The sale will be held at the West Auburn one-room schoolhouse at the corner of West Auburn Road and Boothby Street on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a rain date of Aug. 13. To reserve a table for $10, please call Dick Keene at 966-2202. Space is limited, so call early.

Besides all the priceless treasures on sale, a hot dog lunch will be available during the day. There also will be a table of homemade baked goods. We will be raffling, for the first time, a 30-minute sightseeing flight for three from Twitchell’s Airport. In addition, a cement park bench, donated by American Concrete, will be the alternative prize.

The schoolhouse is one of the few remaining one-room schools in the area. It has been fully restored by the society and is available for school visits during the spring and fall. To book a time, please call Donna Berry, schoolmarm, at 346-3106. We would also welcome new members to our group. If you would like to join, speak to any one of the members on the day of the sale or call Dick Keene at the above number.

Come one, come all for a day of fun, festivities and socializing along with a trip down memory lane. See you there! — June Spear, junesp@roadrunner.com
