PERU — Conrad E. Knox, 78, died Sunday, July 17, at his residence on the Ridge Road.
He was born in Peru, April 3, 1933, the son of the late Lester and Alice (Conrad) Knox. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1951. He worked as a pipefitter at the Oxford Paper Co. retiring from Boise Cascade after 40 years in June 1991. He worked as a volunteer fireman in Peru for more than 60 years and most of those years as assistant chief.
He was a member and past president of the Peru Historical Society and was also a beekeeper. He was married in Mexico, April 1, 1956, to Nancy A. Burke, who survives of Peru.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kari Waterhouse and her husband, Joey, of Canton and Kim Knox and her companion, Lennie Gregory, of Winchester, N.H.; a son, Kevin Knox and his wife, Wanda, of Peru; a sister, Bernice Knox of Portland; grandchildren, Joshua Waterhouse, Jill Waterhouse and her companion, Matt Wyatt, Heidi Waterhouse, Amanda Conway and companion, Shannon Morton, Debbie and Nick Chamberlain; and nine great-grandchildren.
