AUBURN — The NAPA Auto Parts men’s softball team won two games in the Auburn Rec Players Lower Division, and in turn moved into sole possession of first place.

In the first go-round, NAPA took down the Gamers, 18-8, at Pettingill Park.

NAPA’s bats started slowly, scoring just three runs in the first three innings while their defense gave up five in the same span. NAPA then exploded for five runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and six in the sixth to take a commanding 18-7 lead going into the top of the seventh.

Shon Collins went 3-for-3 with a run scored, a double, a triple and a RBI to lead NAPA. Anthony Clark and Tom Day each went 3-for-4. Clark had an inside-the-park home run along with 3 RBI’s, while Day was a single short of the cycle with 4 RBI’s.

In the second matchup, NAPA took down Kung Pao, 11-5, under the lights at Pettingill.

The bats again started slowly, as Pao lead 3-2 after three. But NAPA pulled away with an explosive four-run fourth inning and five more runs in the sixth.

Tom Day, Shon Collins, Peter Boyd, Kasey Clark and Terry Goguen all went 2-for-3. Day had two runs scored with two doubles and tw0 RBI, while Collins had two runs scored with a double and two RBI.

Boyd had two runs scored with a triple and an RBI. Goguen also knocked in a run. Clark had a run scored with a double and an RBI.

NAPA’s next game is Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at Lakeview against Bedard Pharmacy (6-4).
