LEWISTON — The Elliot Ave. Little League 11-year-old all-stars have reached the district finals with a win over Auburn Suburban, 7-5.

Mitchel Frisbie, Haydn Dumont and Jalen Allison combined for the win on the mound. Elliot shook off multiple outfield errors in the first three innings and returned to the form that put the team in the winner’s bracket to start the tournament.

Elliot scratched out several runs and was aggressive on the bases against Auburn Suburban’s Mason Brushwein. Logan Freve scored twice. Dumont, Allison, Frisbie and Sean Lake had the only hits for Elliot. Ryan Kappelmann had a towering home run for Auburn.

Elliot will face Dirigo for the district championship. They will have to defeat Dirigo twice, as they were defeated earlier in the tournament in the winner’s bracket game.

Dirigo capitalized on eight Elliot errors and was helped by good defense to assure itself of a championship berth. Jared Rubin suffered the loss, giving up five runs, mostly unearned, and seven hits, including a home run, through four innings.

Damien St. Pierre pitched one-third of an inning, giving up three runs on two walks, a hit and an error. Mitchel Frisbie came in to relieve St. Pierre, quieting the Dirigo bats over the final 1 2/3 innings.
