The Auburn Public Library’s Concert on the Green Series continues at 6 p.m. on July 25, with a high-energy performance by a Maine band that has taken their blend of modern and traditional bluegrass styles around the globe.

Tricky Britches is a string band hailing from Portland. From their roots of playing old-time fiddle tunes they have evolved into a blend of classic bluegrass, country, and folk rock.

The story of the band begins when three long-time friends from Gorham spent a night recording a homemade album and decided to call themselves Tricky Britches. Since the formation of the band, two other talented musicians have been added and the groups’ harmonies have thrilled the crowds.

Since the spring of 2009, Tricky Britches recorded a new CD called Hop on a Train. In the summer of 2010, the band toured 13 countries in Europe, over the course of three and a half months. From Norwegian mountains all the way to Croatian beaches, crowds have danced to the unique sound of Tricky Britches. Tricky Britches consists of Tyler Lienhardt on fiddle, Seth Doyle on mandolin, Jed Bresette on bass, Ryan “Bear” Wilkinson on banjo, and Nick Wallace on guitar.

Those attending the concert  are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. If it rains, the concert will be held in the Androscoggin room at the Auburn Library. For more information, please call the Auburn Public Library at 333-6640.
