AUBURN — On Thursday, July 21, after 100 years, 1 month and 19 days of wonderful life, God took Albert “Rudy” Fongemie with him home to Heaven.

Born in St. Agathe on June 2, 1911, he was the oldest child of the late Octave and Marie (Bouchard) Fongemie. Albert lived in Lewiston with his daughter Rachel up until one day before his death.

Albert worked as a janitor in the mills and other jobs until he started working at the Lewiston Public Works Department. He loved his job and the people he worked with, and stayed until his retirement when he turned 62. He moved on to driving school buses and enjoyed the many children he came in contact with. They also cared deeply for him. Albert stopped driving when he turned 80.

He finally retired, but never stopped. He enjoyed walking, mowing lawns and staying busy. His favorite pastime was playing solitaire.

Gardening was his passion and he had the biggest garden every year with plenty of veggies to share with his family.

Albert also enjoyed the winters in Florida where he felt the warm air, and was able to have a garden there as well.

His children were his life. Unselfishly, he was always there for them. He was a wonderful friend, and a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. His smile was as big as the moon! He will be deeply missed by all whom loved him!

He is survived by three daughters, Rachel and her husband, Rene Montminy, Ruby and her husband, Roland Goupil, and Rhonda and her fiancé, Sean Youness; six sons, Raymond and his wife, Mona, Ron and his fiancé, Eileen, Roland and his wife, Sandy, Rainey and his wife, Cindy, Roger and Real; a sister, Azelda Rossignol; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rita; his son, Dicky; and two brothers, Maurice and Leonard.

We love you with all our hearts and will miss you Pa Pa……Until we meet again.
