AUBURN — Henry L. Bergeron, 91, a resident of Clover Manor for the past three years, died Thursday, July 21, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Born in Brunswick on April 4, 1920, he was the son of Augustin and Pamela Bois Bergeron. Educated in Brunswick schools, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945.
On Aug. 17, 1946, he married the love of his life, former Florence Beauregard, who passed away after 62 years of marriage in 2008.
Prior to his retirement at age 62, he worked for many years as a card tender for the Bates Manufacturing Company. Although Alzheimer’s disease severely effected his mind, he always had a great sense of humor that seemed to sustain him.
A member of Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by daughters Anita Asselin and her husband, Ernest, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Linda Cyr and her husband, Michael, of Auburn, Sonia Grondin and her partner, Michael Hallett, of Lewiston, and Tina Morin and her partner, Rick Jones, of Monmouth; two brothers, Raymond Bergeron and Augustin Bergeron of Brunswick; five sisters, Irene Hutchison of Arizona, Clemence Mortimer of Arizona, Bertha Labbe of Massachusetts, Florence Cloutier of Connecticut and Cecile Baxter of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Hansen, Harry Williams Jr., Michelle Hinds, Matthew Mercier, Mark Mercier, Christopher Cyr, Angela Gilbert and her husband, Jason, Andrew Morin and Melanie Michaud and her husband, Chris; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Augustin and Pamela; a daughter, Lorraine Brown; sisters, Grace Allard and Pauline Saucier; brothers, Robert, Joseph, Alcide, Gerard and Conrad.
The family thanks the staffs of Clover Health Care and the Hospice House for the loving care they gave Henry during his final years.
