POLAND — Ricker Memorial Library will present “Under One Sky: A Celebration of Cultural Diversity,” a multicultural, multilingual folk music program with two-time Parents’ Choice Award-winning performer Roger Tincknell, on Saturday, July 30.

The family program features stringed and percussion instruments and songs from many countries. Audience members can participate in the singing, dancing and playing of percussion instruments.

Tincknell has entertained children and adults throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for more than 30 years. His strong, expressive vocal styles and instrumental skills bring a warmth and versatility to his performances.

He has 12-plus years of experience as a classroom teacher and music specialist, and has been an artist-in-residence, pioneering programs in multicultural education and special-needs curriculum development.

Tincknell’s numerous CDs for children and adults include multicultural, environmental and family songs. His repertoire features original and contemporary material, as well as traditional folk styles. Ballads, swing, country blues, bluegrass and cowboy yodeling are interspersed with Latin American and international folk songs.

Tincknell plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, Puerto Rican and Venezuelan cuatros, South American charango, Native American Flute, harmonica and piano and percussion.

The “Under One Sky” concert will take place at 10:30 a.m. Ricker Memorial Library is at 1211 Maine St. To reserve a free ticket, call the library at 998-4390.
