OXFORD — Camp Creek Festival officials announced Wednesday that any Maine resident who wants to attend the final day of the three-day event next month will pay $25 at the gate.

The music festival, which runs from Aug. 5 through 7 at the Oxford Fairgrounds, features jam all-stars Max Creek and more than 40 bands. They include locals Dead Season, Zach Deputy, Exter Vs Kimock, Ryan Montbleau Band, Bow Thayer, Gypsy Tailwind, McLovins, The Mallett Brothers, Dirigo, Rustic Overtones, This Way and Paranoid Social Club.

Festival-goers from Maine will need to show a current Maine driver’s license or an identification with a Maine address, or Maine-based military identification at the gate to gain entrance Aug. 7 for $25, festival spokesman Jim Britt said.

Max Creek will headline Saturday and Sunday.

Britt said Wednesday that the Camp Creek Festival will be a much smaller affair than last year’s inaugural Nateva Festival that drew 10,000 to 12,000 people to the fairgrounds over three days.

This festival is expected to bring in a couple of thousand concert-goers, many of them from the Connecticut and Providence, R.I., areas where Max Creek has a large following from their decades of concerts in those areas, he said.

Because of the smaller numbers, all camping, parking and activities will be contained within the fairgrounds off Pottle Road, Britt said.

“It will be much more contained and restrained but equally fun,” Britt said. “There will still be great, great bands and a cool scene.”

The most recent addition to the lineup is the Oxford-based band Dead Season. It is scheduled to play at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.

Performances will take place on four stages throughout the weekend. Bands are scheduled from midafternoon through late night on Friday, from late morning through late night on Saturday, and throughout the day Sunday. The diverse lineup includes soul fusion, improvisational jam rock, Reggae, folk, and a rocking drum-cello duo, and promises more than a little something for everyone, Britt said.

Camp Creek is a family-friendly festival with family camping and an organized kids’ tent on site. Admission for kids 12 and under is free but they must be accompanied by a paid adult. Other festival amenities include free yoga, farmers’ market, free on-site day parking for ticket holders to come and go all weekend, free tap water throughout the venue, and vendors selling food and merchandise.

Max Creek, the Connecticut-based jam band, is celebrating its 40th year this summer. Organizer Frank Chandler, who brought the Nateva Festival to Oxford last summer, decided to bring Max Creek’s annual music festival to town this year when the Nateva Festival was canceled.
