LEWISTON — Two people shot to death last week in New Gloucester died from multiple gunshot wounds, a spokesman at the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.
Autopsies performed on Renee Sandora, 27, of Bennett Road and Trevor Mills, 28, of New Bedford, Mass., confirmed police reports as to cause and manner of death, the spokesman said.
The two were shot at Sandora’s home at 322 Bennett Road on the evening of July 25 and died the following day at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, police said.
Joel Aaron Hayden, 29, of New Bedford, Mass., is charged with two counts of murder in connection with the killings of the mother of his four children and his longtime friend.
Hayden was taken into custody hours after the shootings when he crashed a vehicle in Lyman during a police chase. He was hospitalized with injuries from the crash and arrested on murder charges July 27 upon his release. He is being held without bail pending a hearing or possible indictment by a Cumberland County grand jury.
