DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am responding to the July 22 question about the Maine Music Society Garden and Home Tour.

I was on the organizing committee for many years and headed up the event for the last year. It ran for some 15 years, and we had many lovely local gardens and homes on the tour. However, in the fall of 2009 we did not have enough gardens/homes to make up a tour for 2010, so it was decided to discontinue this event.

We do thank all the gardeners and homeowners who worked so hard to give so many pleasure over the years. — Melanie Ness, melness@roadrunner.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for a wonderful column. It’s the first thing I read in the morning, while drinking my coffee.

In response to Louise in Lewiston (July 15) regarding the Bonanza restaurant. It was located in the Bradlees’ mall and across the street, where the Mexican restaurant sits now), was York Steak House. We frequently ate there with our two children. I believe they both closed in the late 1970s or early ’80s. — Nicki, Auburn
