When Collin Miclon, above, and other members of Circus Smirkus’ Big Top Tour come to Maine on Aug. 8-12, they will present eight shows jampacked with dazzling spectacle, with aerials, acrobatics, high wire, juggling, trapeze, clowning and live music. This year’s theme is “Front Page Follies: Big Top Big News,” a wacky celebration of old-fashioned journalism. Shows will be at 1 and 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 11-12, at Merriconeag Waldorf School, 57 Desert Road, Freeport. Tickets are available at Royal River Natural Foods in Freeport. They may also be purchased at smirkus.org or by calling 1-877-SMIRKUS. General admission tickets range from $16 to $20. The other four shows will be in Kennebunkport. Oddfellow Theater owner Mike Miclon describes Circus Smirkus as “the perfect segue to a professional career in entertainment. These kids eat, drink and sleep performance.”
