CARTHAGE — Bert W. Knox, 44, of Carthage, died unexpectedly on Aug. 3, in Carthage.

Bert was born Dec. 25, 1966, at home in Livermore Falls. He lived most of his life in Carthage. He married his lifelong sweetheart, Sherry Hutchinson on Oct. 26, 1985. He ran his own business, Knox & Sons Light Trucking & Excavation. He was a loving and caring person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was known for his great sense of humor, smile and outgoing personality. He thought the world of his family and especially loved spending quality time with his beautiful grandchildren. He was a family man who enjoyed outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry (Hutchinson) Knox of Carthage; children, Dustin Knox and girlfriend, Samantha, Cody Knox and girlfriend, Kristen, Lindsey Knox and boyfriend, Dillon, all of Carthage, adopted son, Nick McGrane of Old Town, and many children he took under his wing as his own; three brothers, Kenny Flagg, Sidney Flagg and Teddy and Wanda Flagg, all of Carthage; three sisters, Kathy and Leo Turner of Carthage, Lydia (Ruthy) Hutchinson of Canton and Stella and Louie Blanchard of Rumford; five very special grandchildren, with one on the way; and several other family members.

He was predeceased by his parents, Emma and Theodore Knox; stepfather, Floyd Pulk; and sister: Florence Provencher.

He will be sadly missed by numerous friends and family members who meant the world to him.
