PARIS — On Saturday, Aug. 13, Celebration Barn Theater will present the debut performance of “The Journey,” a collaboration between award-winning mime dancer Karen Montanaro and the Boston-based band Ginger Ibex, with music composed by Sharon Crumrine.

Montanaro is the innovator of mime dance, a fusion of two classical art forms — mime and ballet. She danced professionally with the Ohio Ballet and the Darmstadt Opera Ballet in Germany, and toured and taught internationally with her late husband and teacher, mime master Tony Montanaro. In 2008, she was awarded the Individual Artist Fellowship grant from the Maine Arts Commission. She tours the world with her one-woman show, “Tanzspiel.”

Crumrine, composer and pianist for Ginger Ibex, is based in Cambridge, Mass. She began composing instrumental pieces for piano, strings and percussion while studying music performance and education at UMass Boston. In 2009, she released her debut CD, “Firefly.”

“The Journey” will be presented at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for students and children. Call 743-8452. Celebration Barn Theater is at 190 Stock Farm Road in South Paris. For more information, visit www.CelebrationBarn.com.
