BROWNFIELD — Acclaimed acoustic roots singer-songwriter Chris Smither will give a concert on Friday, Aug. 12, at Stone Mountain Arts Center.

Over his 40-year musical career, the folk/blues guitarist and singer-songwriter has released more than a dozen albums. He tours extensively, performing at clubs, concert halls and festivals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Smither’s songs have been featured in films and TV shows, and have been covered by Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris and Diana Krall. In 2009, he contributed a short story to “Amplified,” a collection of fiction by performing songwriters, including Mary Gauthier, Robbie Fulks, Jon Langford, Maria McKee and Rhett Miller.

June brought the release of a new album, “Lost and Found,” a compilation of good quality tapes and CDs of concerts performed between 1993 and 2003. Featured are live versions of “Train Home,” “Hey Hey Hey,” “Time to Go Home,” “Lola” and 10 other Smither favorites. The CD is available only at www.smither.com and at live shows.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 866-227-6523 or visit www.stonemountainartscenter.com. Stone Mountain Arts Center is at 695 Dugway Road.
