AUBURN — Bark For Life, a new event hosted by the American Cancer Society, will bring dog owners and their pets together in the fight against cancer, on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Auburn Mall. This noncompetitive one-mile walk will raise vital funds for the American Cancer Society while celebrating the special bond between people and their dogs.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk starts at 11. The event will feature a variety of fun activities for dogs and owners alike, such as a training demonstration, a dog trick contest and prizes for the top fundraising dogs.

“We know that many dog lovers have experienced cancer firsthand,” said Crystal Derocher of the American Cancer Society. “Bark For Life is a new opportunity for people to join the fight against cancer while also acknowledging how much our dogs help us when their owners are faced with a life-changing illness.”

Both teams and individual walkers are welcome. Registration is $25 per person with the commitment to raise additional funds for the lifesaving mission of the American Cancer Society. All registered dogs will receive a Bark For Life bandanna, while participants who raise at least $100 will get a Bark For Life T-shirt.
