LEWISTON — A suspect was arrested Sunday night in connection with a Saturday bar fight that sent one man to the hospital with stab wounds, police said.

Perscell William, 49, was arrested Sunday and charged with elevated aggravated assault, Lewiston police Lt. Mark Cornelio said. The charge came after witnesses identified William to police as the assailant in an altercation at The Cage, an Ash Street bar, that sent Edward Ford, 52, to the hospital with three stab wounds to the chest Saturday night, Cornelio said.

Police were not able to locate William, of 67 Pierce St., after the 8: 42 p.m. altercation on Saturday, but found and arrested him in a parking lot off Pierce Street a day later, Cornelio said.

Ford was brought to Central Maine Medical Center to be treated for his injuries on Saturday, Cornelio said. A nursing supervisor said that Ford was not at the hospital on Monday evening.
