OXFORD — The International Hot Rod Association bestows the Ironman trophy upon its champions at each of its National events held throughout North America.

Oxford Dragway enjoys the status of being the only IHRA sanctioned drag strip in all of New England. As such, IHRA authorizes the track to hand out this coveted award to sportsman racers competing in selected eliminators at a two-day event each year. This last weekend was that event, and Oxford Dragway calls it The Ironman Classic.

Friday night’s eliminator champions were:

Pro Street: Jennifer Fusco of Turner, with a winning time of 10.73 seconds at 65.68 mph.

Street: Richard Stoddard of Standish, with a winning time of 9.18 seconds at 74.74 mph.

Nostalgia: Joe Gagne of Casco, with a winning time of 7.63 seconds at 90.39 mph.
