AUBURN — NAPA Auto Parts men’s softball team finished off a terrific regular season with three wins in the Auburn Players Lower Division to finish with a record of 14-1. In the process, NAPA solidified its position as the No. 1 team in the league heading into the playoffs.

In the first game, NAPA took down Cascades, 21-5, at Tribou Field. NAPA started off hot, scoring two runs in the first inning, six in the second, one each in the third and fourth, five in the fifth and finished Cascades off by the mercy rule in the 6th with 6 runs. Tom Day’s two-run home run ended the game.

Dave Langlois was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, five RBIs, a double and a home run to lead NAPA. Shon Collins (3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a double and an inside-the-park homerun) and Kasey Clark (3-f0r-3, two runs, one RBI) also played starring roles. Kevin Pontbriand, Anthony Clark, Peter Boyd, Terry Goguen and Joey Sullivan all chipped in with 2-for-3 performances.

In the second battle, Napa squeaked out a win over The Green Leaf, 12-11, under the lights at Pettingill Park. After scoring early and often, NAPA entered the bottom of the sixth inning leading 12-3 before Leaf roared to life, scoring six runs, five of which came with two outs. Green Leaf fought hard in the seventh, scoring two more runs and bringing the tying run to third base before NAPA’s defense shut the door.

Peter Boyd and Joey Sullivan each went 3-for-3 to lead NAPA. Boyd scored three runs and homered with three RBIs. Sullivan scored one and drove in two. Anthony Clark, Tom Day, Shon Collins, Andy Ouellette and Terry Goguen each helped the cause, going 2-for-3

In the final game of the regular season, NAPA flexed its muscles against Main-Land, winning 20-8 at Lisbon’s Pinewoods field. NAPA scored three runs in the first inning, 11 in the third, two more in the fifth and capped it off with four in the sixth to take their eighth straight win and head into the playoffs as the first seed.

Leading the onslaught were Kevin Pontbriand (3-for-4, three runs, RBI), Dave Langlois (3-4, three runs, four RBIs, 2B, 3B), Tom Day (3-4, three runs, four RBIs, 2B, HR), Peter Boyd (3-4, run, two RBIs, three 2B), Kasey Clark (3-4, run, RBI, 2B) and Joey Sullivan (3-3, two runs, two RBIs).
