OXFORD — Beverly J. Smedberg passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at her home.

She was born in Milford, Mass., June 17, 1966. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School, Class of 1985.

Following high school, she was employed by Mid Maine Savings Bank and then Wilner Wood Products. Bev then started working as a receptionist at Speedway Incorporated and later as the office manager, where she managed commercial and residential properties for more than 24 years.

Bev had great people skills and was adored by all the tenants. She had a STAR Certification for Managing Rural Development Housing and attended many seminars to keep current on her certification.

She married Peter Smedberg on May 20, 1995, at Poland Spring Inn.

Bev lived life to the fullest and always said, “Life is good.” She took special pride in being a great mother and loved hanging out with her girls. She enjoyed having her girls’ friends at her house and was always happy to host the neighborhood children and liked being referred to as the neighborhood Mom. She was extremely proud of her daughters’ accomplishments. She especially liked to cheer her girls on when they played basketball, track and field hockey. She also loved being an aunt, a sister and a great friend. She had an outgoing personality and made friends wherever she went.

Bev loved to play wallyball, softball, was a big fan of MASCAR and Harley Davidson. She loved to travel and was fortunate to have been able to travel through many places in the United States, and abroad like the Bahamas, St. Maartans, Jamacia, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas. She also hosted the best neighborhood Christmas parties.

Beverly leaves behind her husband, Peter, and daughters, Tayla, 15, and Jade, 9, of Oxford; her mother, Nancy Trudeau; stepdads, James Hargreaves of Highland Plantation and Bruce Trudeau of Rhode Island; her sister, Judith Allen of Charlotte, N.C.; brothers, Frederick Washer of Norway and Andrew Washer of Lewiston; inlaws, Roger and Gayle Smedberg of Oxford; brother-in-law, Roger Jr. of Oxford; and sisters-in-law, Razell Ward of Farmington and Gemma Smedberg-Goodwin of Branson, Mo.; special cousin, Neil Oja of Oxford; Katherine Hatch, a very special family friend; as well as a multitude of special friends from all over.
