LEWISTON — The Lewiston Middle School Demons hockey program announces 2011-12 registration and tryout information.

The team is open to boys and girls in grades 5 to 8. Tryout dates are Monday, Sept. 19th at 6:10 p.m., grades 5-6; Tuesday, Sept. 20, 6;10 p.m., grades 7-8; and Wednesday, Sept. 21, 5:20 p.m., girls only.

Tryouts are at Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Tryout fee is $20.

Registration begins one hour prior to tryout. All participants must bring valid 2011/2012 USA Hockey registration to the tryout in order to get on the ice.

Girls may play on both girls’ only and boys’ teams; however, those girls who wish to do so must attend the appropriate grade level tryout, as well as the girls’ only tryout.

Lewiston Demons Hockey accepts players within the LAYHL area as long as those players’ schools do not offer middle school hockey. Demons play in the Southern Maine Middle School Hockey League(www.smmshl.com). Teams will play 12 to 16 games on Sunday afternoons and evenings plus playoffs. Games are played at Southern Maine area rinks.

LMS Blue Demons are the defending Twin City Cup Game winner, which is part of Lewiston v. SDA Hockey Rivalry Day in December. They also are the SMMSHL Soule A Division 2010-11 Champions.
