AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank awarded a $1,000.00 Banking on the Future Scholarship to St. Dominic Regional High School graduate James Poulin of Lewiston.

While at St. Dom’s, Poulin was an active member of both the National Honor Society and Key Club. He was ranked in the top three in the Pi-Cone Math League in his sophomore and junior years. Poulin was awarded the La Survivance Francais award in 2010 and earned High Achievement in every class throughout his high school career. He was also a member of the St. Dom’s basketball and baseball team. In addition to his volunteer work with the National Honor Society and Key Club, Poulin spent nine years as an alter server.

Poulin will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall, majoring in biomedical engineering. His plans include attending medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon with the ability to design specialized prosthetics.

For more than 20 years, Mechanics Savings Bank has provided scholarships to assist high school graduates with their higher education goals. This year, the Banking on the Future Scholarship program awarded $1,000 to 15 high school graduates at 10 area high schools.
