FARMINGTON — Local fire departments and emergency crews dealt mostly with downed trees and power lines and some flooding from Tropical Storm Irene, Clyde Ross, spokesperson for Franklin County Emergency Management, said Monday.

The Phillips-Avon area was hit hard, he said. A bridge on Route 4 in Madrid was closed for hours Sunday afternoon and opened to one lane after a state official checked it, he said.

Other roads closed during part of the day included Pond and Munson roads in Wilton, George Thomas Road from Route 141 in Farmington Falls to New Sharon, Federal Road and Ramsdell Road, and the Clover Mill Road in Farmington from Route 43 to Cummings Hill in Temple.

The Intervale in Farmington was closed to traffic early Monday morning as the Sandy River overflowed. It was open to traffic shortly after 6 a.m.

Munson Road and the Morrison Hill Road in Wilton were still closed  Monday due to power lines down, Wilton police officer Brian Lynch said.
