PORTLAND — The State Theatre and Videoport have teamed up for a Halloween double feature of George Romero’s classic zombie film “Dawn of the Dead” (1978), followed by the frightening and hilarious “Shaun of the Dead” (2004).
There will be a “zombie walk,” starting at Monument Square at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, and leading to the doors of the State Theatre. “Dawn of the Dead” starts at 7 p.m, followed by a contest for best guy/girl zombie costume.
“Last Call,” an eight-minute zombie flick by local filmmakers Sarah and Christian Matzke, will be screened before the beginning of “Shaun of the Dead.”
Tickets, $8 for admission to all films, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, and will be available at the Cumberland County Civic Center box office, by calling 800-745-3000 and online at www.statetheatreportland.com. Tickets also available at any Bull Moose music store.
Both movies are rated R, so a parent or adult guardian must accompany anyone younger than 17. State Theatre is at 609 Congress St.
