LEWISTON — This month The Center for Wisdom’s Women launches two new monthly programs in addition to its weekly Writer’s Workshop held on Monday mornings: A poetry group on the 8th and a journal writing group on the 22nd.

Other highlighted programs this month include a SARK session designed to nurture creativity on the 15th, a class led by Laurie McDonald from Women Work and Community on the 7th. A workshop about relieving anxiety and stress is scheduled for the 21st and will be led by Peg Hoffman. Craft activities take place weekly on Tuesdays. These and many other ongoing groups are held weekday mornings from 10 to 11:30.

Programs for personal nurture will be offered on Tuesdays afternoons and include a Qi Gong session at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, Wisdom Circle at 1 p.m. on the 13th and 27th with Sarah Wood from the Sexual Assault Crisis Center, and one on one conversations on the Inner Spirit with Pam Belliveau on Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m..

This month the center welcomes back two nursing student interns from USM /LA College. Alica and Tasha will be available on Thursday mornings for blood pressure and weight checks and for consultation on other general health related questions.

Throughout September, the center is operating from Trinity Church on the corner of Bates and Spruce streets, while renovations take place at the Blake Street facility. The center welcomes all women and programs are offered free of charge.
