AUBURN — The St. Dom’s boys’ soccer squad kicked off its 2011 season in fine fashion Tuesday, hustling to a 5-0 victory over Monmouth.

T.J. Rotolico led the way for the Saints with a pair of goals.

Tyler Furtado, Zack Johnson and Calvin Stewart also tallied for the Saints (1-0) to complete the scoring.

Cameron Hainey and Ben Sawyer combined to record seven saves for St. Dom’s, while Kasey Smith turned aside three shots between the posts for the Mustangs (0-1).

Richmond 3, Buckfield 2

BUCKFIELD — Sam Lorbeski made it a hat trick when he scored the game-winning goal with five minutes left in regulation to lift Richmond to a 3-2 victory over Buckfield in an EWC boys’ soccer tilt Tuesday.

While Lorbeski scored all three goals for the Bobcats (1-0-1), Trevor Averill netted both goals for the Bucks (0-1). Austin Dooley also contributed for Buckfield with an assist.

Tyler Harrington made seven saves for Richmond, while Calvin Downey turned aside 12 shots for Buckfield.

Lisbon 4, Wiscasset 1

WISCASSET — Mason Smith netted a pair of goals in the second half as Lisbon rolled to a 4-1 victory over Wiscasset in MVC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.

Brady Fenderson put the Greyhounds up 1-0 when he tallied early on a penalty kick. Joe Osmand made it 2-0 early in the second half before Corey Hodgdon put Wiscasset on the board.

Ryan Fairbanks contributed two assists for Lisbon, while Justin Grant was also credited with an assist. Brett Williams played a strong game of defense for the Greyhounds. Shane Tanguay made three saves to notch the win.

Jason Weatherbee turned back nine shots for Wiscasset.

Mountain Valley 3, Telstar 1

BETHEL — Andrew Phelps scored all three goals on breakaways as Mountain Valley knocked off Telstar with a 3-1 victory in a boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

Phelps punched in his first goal on Josh Rainey assist 20:30 into the game and followed up with his second with on a Austin Glover assist in the first half.

Phelps punched in third goal on a Corey Cochran feed 2:49 into the second half.

Telstar’s loan goal was scored by Anna Saucier on a Travis Brown assist.

Mt. Abram 1, Spruce Mountain 1

SALEM — The Mt. Abram and newly-formed Spruce Mountain boys’ soccer squads fought it out in the sun Tuesday, coming away with a 1-1 draw in a deadlocked season opener.

Jay Chouinard tallied for the Roadrunners with an assist from Noah Zanella, while returning veteran Eli Capen scored for Spruce Mountain.

Josh Beedy made six saves for Mt. Abram, while Ethan Hutchins turned aside 12 shots between the posts for the Phoenix (0-0-1).

Mt. Ararat 3,

Oxford Hills 1

TOPSHAM — Mt. Ararat took an early 2-0 first-half lead and never looked back in a 3-1 victory over Oxford Hills in a boys’ soccer contest Tuesday.

Dan Purington and Kellen Bonnar each scored first-half goals for the Eagles (2-0), who dominating play by controlling the ball against the Vikings (0-2).

Nick Oram put Mt. Ararat up 3-0 with an early second-half goal. Austin Chute scored an unassisted goal for the Vikings’ lone score.

Aaron Crockett stopped 25 shots for Oxford Hills, while Nate Bryant turned away 15 in the victory.

Gray-NG 2, Freeport 1

GRAY — Goals by Craig Moreau and Jack Martell lifted Gray-New Gloucester to a 2-1 victory over Freeport in a WMC boys’ soccer game Tuesday.

Moreau scored the only goal in the first half on a fedd from Paul Fotter. Moreau then set up Martell with the game-winner in the second half.

Even Heich scored for Freeport.

Nick Rogers stopped five shots for Gray-NG. Freeport keeper Alex Campbell was credited with 10 saves.

Greely 4, Poland 0

POLAND — Greely peppered Poland’s goal with 43 shots and allowed just four on net, but a stifling Poland defense kept the game close as Greely escaped with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday.

The Rangers didn’t boot the ball past goalie Dillon Douglas until there was less than five minutes remaining before halftime.

Greely’s second goal came 4:01 into the second half when Ted Hart poked the ball away from a defender and beat Douglas.

Douglas got some revenge later when he stopped Hart on a penalty kick.

Adam Verreault also played goal for Poland, making two saves.
