The jazz ensemble Luna Madidus will play on Friday, Sept. 16, at She Doesn’t Like Guthries. The band’s sound is modeled after such jazz icons as Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk, as well as the “downtown” style of New York City. Formed two years ago, Luna Madidus has performed live on public radio, had airplay on WRFR and MPBN, and played in Portland, Lewiston and the mid-coast area. The group is currently working on its first release, due out in early fall. Making up the band are Mike Whitehead, trumpet/flugelhorn; Gideon Forbes, tenor saxophone; Tom Luther, piano; Noah Fishman, bass; and Jacob Forbes, drums. The show is from 9 to 11 p.m. at the cafe at 115 Middle St., Lewiston. No cover.
