LEWISTON — A former credit union teller was indicted this week charged with embezzling more than $10,000 from her employer.

Kelsey Cyr, 19, of Lewiston, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking. The grand jury handed up its indictment on Wednesday.

Police said Cyr was a teller at Great Falls Regional Federal Credit Union in Lewiston over the summer of 2010 when she absconded with the money. Police were notified and Detective Lee Jones was assigned to the case.

Cyr, who graduated from Lewiston High School in 2010, is scheduled to appear in court on the charge Sept. 29. She is also being investigated by Lewiston police for a separate matter in which she is accused of stealing and using another man’s ATM information.
