HUDSON, Fla. — The Rev. Lawrence W. Cole of Hudson, Fla., passed into glory to be with the Lord Jesus on Sept. 11.

He was born in Sanford, the son of Harold W. and Olga M. Cole. He lived most of his life in the New England area, retiring to Hudson 13 years ago.

He was educated at Brown University and was a graduate of Northeastern University and Dallas Theological Seminary. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

The Rev. Cole was a devout Christian serving the Lord as pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Harvard, Mass., was assistant chaplain at Fort Devens, Ayers, Mass., pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grasmere, Goffstown, N.H., and assistant pastor of the Turner Village Baptist Church in Turner.

He led many home Bible classes through the New England area. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting, fishing and sailing. Friends will remember the great meals he served; he was an excellent cook.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Evelyn M. of Hudson, Fla.; his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn I. Hermandinger (Brian W. Hermandinger) of New Port Richey, Fla.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren of Manchester, N.H.; a sister, Natalie of Worcester, Mass.; and extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his son, David.
