HIRAM — A Tripptown Road man died Friday when flames swept through his home, burning it to the ground.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office said 83-year-old Ralph Fournier was found in the rubble of the small house a short time after firefighters arrived on the scene shortly before 3 p.m.
Fournier’s home was a camper attached to a small outbuilding, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fire investigators suspect the fire was caused by either the wood stove or a propane heater. Fournier used both to heat the home, investigators said.
His body was found in the bedroom. The fire was reported about 2:45 p.m and called in by Fournier’s brother, who lives next door.
The investigation was expected to continue over the weekend.
