JAY — Police are investigating a break-in at a Beedy Road residence where two handguns, jewelry, small electronics and change, among other items, were stolen, Jay Detective Richard Caton IV said Monday.

The burglary occurred between 4:30 and 6:20 p.m. Friday, he said.

The family had left the home and returned to find their house had been entered.

State Police Trooper Scott Dalton was called in with his tracking dog, Spike, who followed a lead to Route 133 in the construction zone, where it is believed a vehicle was parked, Caton said.

Route 133 intersects with Beedy Road.

The guns taken in the burglary are a .32 caliber, black semi-automatic pistol and a silver .22 Magnum revolver, Caton said.

If anyone saw anyone getting into a vehicle on Route 133 in the construction zone between the hours of 4:30 and 6:20 p.m., they are asked to call Caton at 897-6766.

Jay officers Nick Gulliver and Sgt. Troy Young were also assisted at the scene by Wilton police officers Tim Coombs and Matt Billian, Caton said.
