Rug braiding
MEXICO — Rug braiding classes will begin Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Green Church. Beginners welcome.
I lieu of a cost, participants are asked to make a donation to the Green Church for the use of the space.
Instructor will be Natalie Reed, along with her daughter, Julieanne. Natalie has been teaching rug braiding in the Mexico/Rumford area for more than 40 years. She continues, at age 81, to teach the classes because she loves to braid and loves to share the craft.

Cemetery decor
PERU — The Demerritt Cemetery Association requests that all ornaments be removed by Oct. 15. Fall decorations may be left on, but must be picked up by Nov. 5.
Historical society
MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet Thursday, Sept. 22, at 3 Oxford St. in the Wills Museum. There will be a pot luck supper served at 5 p.m. followed by guest speaker Richard Mullins, author of “Evangeline: The Novel.” There will be a book signing. Public is welcome.
Harvest dinner
RUMFORD — A Fall Harvest Dinner will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Holy Savior Church Hall, 126 Maine Ave. All are welcome.
The menu includes a traditional New England Boiled Dinner (optional homemade macaroni and cheese entree) with homemade apple crisp. Apples were picked and donated by the 7th grade class. Many of the veggies and all the apples are from local farms. $8 adults, $6 children 12 and under. Take out is available.

Bocce tournament
RUMFORD — The members of the Gorizia Lodge #467 of the Sons of Italy, Route 108, will host a bocce tournament against a Sons of Italy Lodge from New Hampshire at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. Members are encouraged to join in a day of fun and are also being asked to bring a dish to share. The regular monthly meeting will follow at 3.

HANOVER — Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1949 will gather for their regular monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the summer home of Harry and Fran Burns, Howard Pond.
Attendees should bring their lunch and a chair.
Business workshops
BETHEL — SCORE & AVCOG will present New Business Planning workshops beginning Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Telstar High School. The workshops will be presented on consecutive Wednesdays for four weeks.
Topics will include business plan preparation, marketing, cash flow and financing.
The $50 fee includes one person and business partner for all four workshops.
