Automatic warning signals will be installed at the Stetson Road railroad crossing in Lewiston as part of the 1986-87 Railroad-Highway Grade Crossing Improvement Program, officials said Tuesday.

According to Jane L. Lincoln, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation, the signals will be constructed by Maine Central Railroad. No date has been set for the beginning of the $54,000 project.

Selection of the Stetson Road project was based on the results of a diagnostic team field review, which examined crossings considered to be unsafe.
