LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop for anyone seeking knowledge about supporting young people affected by cancer. “Supporting Children and Adolescents When a Loved One Has Cancer” will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room A/B.

Topics include the various ways children and teens are impacted; how to talk about cancer; common feelings, behaviors and warning signs that a child is not coping well; and available resources.

Teachers, day-care providers, nurses and other professionals who work with children are encouraged to attend. Certificates of attendance are available upon request.

The workshop is part of the Center’s Healing Tree Children’s Program and will be facilitated by Children’s Program Coordinator, Tookie Bright.
