Operation Raise ME Up

Times are tough. Our economy is on the ropes and politicians from Augusta to Washington are too busy bickering to do anything about it. But Mainers are not the type to sit around waiting for handouts. Mainers are not afraid to lead, when no one else is willing.

Upright Frameworks is calling on its friends and family, clients and employees to help raise Maine’s economy up.

Here’s what we’re doing at Upright. We know weatherization retrofits are a powerful instrument for positive economic change. A properly implemented weatherization project accomplishes the following:

Pays for itself through energy savings (typically within 5-7 years);

Generates wealth for the building owner; and

Diverts a considerable amount of money (about $800 per year for the average household) from oil corporations to the local economy.

And, in the long term, it will help ameliorate the growing disaster that is global warming.

We have had a fantastic couple of years thanks to our visionary and business savvy clients and we are excited to invest in Maine’s economic future.

Upright Frameworks will do weatherization retrofit projects at cost for the first 100 clients who sign up through Operation Raise ME Up between now and December 31, 2011. In other words, Upright Frameworks is pledging to invest 100 percent of its profits (worth about $50,000 for 100 projects) in Maine’s future.

Will 100 homes kick Maine’s economy into high gear? No. But it will boost the economic firepower of the 100 building owners who participate. And if other reputable weatherization companies join the campaign, we might just create a tipping point — which is what this is all about. We believe that once a critical mass of Mainers experience the miracle that is weatherization, the market will take off, and Maine’s economy will thrive.
