On Sept. 14, The Lisbon Historical Society hosted Richard Nadeau of Lisbon Falls, who gave a presentation on The Slovak Catholic Association. Paul Chizmar Jr., also of Lisbon Falls, assisted Nadeau, who is shown in the top photo. The presentation included history, artifacts and photos of their Slovak heritage. Pictured with Chizmar, bottom photo, is Lisbon Historical Society vice president, Karen Lemke. They hold a table cloth embroidered by his mother, Margaret Horvath Chizmar. Copies of naturalization certificates are currently on display at The Maine State Museum in Augusta. Among them are Nadeau’s mother and Chizmar’s parents. Following the presentation, Dorothy Smith, secretary and archivist, served her home made kielbasa. The next meeting of the Lisbon Historical Society will be held Oct. 12. Photos needing identification will be on display. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event starts at 7 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will follow.
