LEWISTON — Veteran singer-songwriter Martin Swinger & The Existential Band will perform Saturday, Oct. 15, at DownStage at L/A Arts.

Swinger has an eclectic repertoire of award-winning original Americana music as well as swing and jazz standards. He has recorded three albums with bands he co-founded (Mandala, Just Plain Folk and Zingo Zango Generic Jug Band), plus six solo albums.

His awards include honorable mention, American Song Competition; a Maine Arts Commission Good Idea Grant; new folk artist, Kerrville Folk Festival; first-place song, North Anson Bluegrass Festival; first-place song, Ossipee Valley Music Festival; first-place vocalist and second-place folk artist, Down East Country Music Association.

Ed Desjardins of The Existential Band is a multi-instrumentalist producer, recordist and songwriter. His first solo CD, “Innerspace,” released in June of 2010, is a collection of 10 honest songs woven from his many and diverse musical influences.
