FARMINGTON — A New Vineyard woman faces charges after police stopped her on Fairbanks Road on Wednesday night.

Kathyrene Searles, 37, was stopped near Sunny Hill Apartments at about 10 p.m. under suspicion of speeding, according to the arrest report.

While working for the University of Maine at Farmington’s Police Department on Wednesday night, Farmington police Sgt. Michael Adcock stopped Searles then learned she was driving after habitual offender license revocation.

She also appeared to have been drinking and was found in possession of a usable amount of marijuana, police said.

Farmington officer Ted Neil was called and charged her with driving after suspension-habitual offender and violation of conditions of release. Searles was given a civil summons for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.

Searles made an initial court appearance Thursday where bail was set at either $500 cash or a pretrial agreement. She was sentenced to 48 hours at Franklin County Detention Center on a previous charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to a detention center officer.
