Minot Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Town Office. Gregory Sherwood will speak on “Metal Detecting in Maine.” Pictured at the September meeting is Nancy Conant, archivist, showing Scott Andrews a pair of Withington skis that had been donated to the collection. Andrews, curator at the Ski Museum of Maine in Wilton, made a presentation on skiing and the craftsmanship of skis in Maine. He talked about the early influence of the Scandinavian people in the early 1900s and then the wooden ski factories that were in various parts of Maine. The meeting was preceded by a pot luck supper at the West Minot Grange Hall with Donald and Janice Verrill as hosts.
