RUMFORD — Carlton M. Finethy celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends on Oct. 1 at a private gathering at 49 Franklin St.

Those in attendance included his wife of 74 years, Kathleen E. Finethy; son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Carolyn Finethy; daughter and son-in-law, Millie and George Earle; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Kristy and Kevin Cool and Sherry and Keith Parker; great-grandsons, Trevor and Spencer Cool and Jason Parker; great-granddaughter, Meaghan; and many friends.

Carlton was born on Oct. 1, 1911, in Mexico to the late Richard and Amelia Finethy. He had one sister and four brothers. He married Kathleen E. Loggie on Aug. 14, 1937.

He worked for the Oxford Paper Mill for 45 years starting at the age of 17. He has been a Mason for 66 years and is a Master Mason.

He enjoys working in the yard, reading and going for rides throughout Maine.
