SUMNER — Former fire Chief Wally Litchfield was elected selectman Tuesday night, succeeding longtime board member Mark Silber who resigned Sept. 13.
Litchfield received 61 votes; Ingrid Erickson had 34; and Kelly Stewart got two.
Litchfield was been a teacher for 33 years and administrator for 16. He has also served as coach for youth ball games and in other volunteer capacities.
He was sworn into office after the election.
In other business, voters approved taking money from the General Fund to buy a new computer and supporting software to accommodate the new vehicle registration requirements for the town.
